The way the person looking relates to these images is based on habits related to leisure travel. The touristic component of recreational images consolidated in the nineteenth century when travel became a popular form of leisure. Within the wide variety of visual spectacles developed in this century there is a common tendency to disconnect the onlooker from his or her surroundings to give the feeling of having been transported to another place. 19th century attractions such as panoramas or dioramas reflect this aspect of the image as a means of virtual transport; a peculiarity that is also characteristic of our current visual ecosystem, as is particularly evident in spherical images and virtual reality.
