La Visita VII

Workshop-meeting with researcher Julia Ramírez-Blanco, March 8, 2024.

Coordinated by: Sandra Santana, Claudio Marrero, and José Díaz Cuyás In collaboration with: Ateneo de La Laguna, ULL Area of Aesthetics, and TURICOM

This workshop is part of the "La Visita" (The Visit) program of activities organized by the Ateneo de La Laguna, the ULL Area of Aesthetics, and the TURICOM research group. The "La Visita" project aims to invite thinkers and artists to visit us with the intention of reflecting on the act of visiting itself.

PROGRAM

The workshop will consist of a theoretical first part and a practical part where participants will reflect on possible futures, as well as the fears and hopes they may generate. Since the invention of the word "utopia," its manifestation in literature has tended to be linked to the narrative of a journey in which a person visiting an ideal place subsequently recounts it for the delight and learning of people who have never been there. This session will reflect on the utopic tradition of the visit, also linking it to its modern updates through tourism as a search for environments in which to dream oneself into another life by immersing in a different landscape.
