La Visita VIII
Workshop-meeting with Jesús Carrillo, May 2-3, 2024.
Coordinated by: Sandra Santana, Claudio Marrero, and José Díaz Cuyás
In collaboration with: Ateneo de La Laguna, Area of Aesthetics (ULL), and TURICOM
This workshop is part of the "La Visita" (The Visit) program of activities organized by the Ateneo de La Laguna, the ULL Area of Aesthetics, and the TURICOM research group. The "La Visita" project aims to invite thinkers and artists to visit us with the intention of reflecting on the act of visiting itself.
PROGRAM
May 2 and 3, 15:30 – 17:30 h. Faculty of Fine Arts, University of La Laguna.
The workshop will consist of two parts across two consecutive sessions. In the first part, four cases will be recounted in the first person, testing in practice the implications of this institutionality "of the commons" in different ways:
-The hypothesis of a "monster institution": The Foundation of the Commons (Fundación de los Comunes)
-David vs. Goliath: The Southern Conceptualisms Network (Red Conceptualismos del Sur)
-Other Europes are possible: L’Internationale and the Institute of Radical Imagination (IRI)
-Puncturing the museum: Situated Museum (Museo situado)
In the second part of the workshop, the group is invited to collectively design imaginative devices that update or transform these hypotheses in the present/future and within the specific contexts of the workshop participants:
-Who are we? Definition of a common
-Why do we form ourselves?
-What forms do we adopt? Modes of organization and governance. Tools, ways of doing, and affecting the environment
